If you’ve ever wanted to ferry people around but couldn’t afford to buy an actual ferry ship then Fernbus Simulator is the game for you! When it comes to relaxing in a virtual world, Fernbus Simulator is lovingly following in the footsteps of classic games such as Euro Truck Simulator and its proudly freedom-loving cousin from across the sea, American Truck Simulator. And while there’s plenty that this game does right, there’s more than a few things it unfortunately messes up with.

Driving Through the Deutschland Desert on a MAN with No Name

In Fernbus Simulator you take on the role of a bus driver carrying passengers from point A to point B through the bustling cities and loving countryside of beautiful Germany.

The game looks really good as you drive around and experience a scaled down but otherwise incredibly accurate and detailed German landscape featuring large open highways and around 40 real world cities. If you’ve ever wanted to earn minimum wage on the streets of Berlin then this is definitely the game for you.The game features plenty of in game systems to mess around with such as the ability to get out of your bus and walk on foot through the pretty city streets and country roads. Very entertaining to say the least and a much better way to experience a foreign land compared to the static images of Google Maps.

A Bethesda-Level Safety Violation

This new fernbus that you just acquired? Yeah it’s broken. Completely broken in every possible way you could expect. Bugs, glitches, crashes? It has them all along with a rear view mirror that doesn’t work. You have not seen a more poorly working bus since that time you played Big Rigs: Over the Road Racing.

And that’s unfortunate because not only can technical problems hamper any experience, a game that’s explicitly made to relax with really can not handle any sort of distractions or frustrations like the ones present in this game. If constant errors are repeatedly knocking you out of the immersion and laid back feel of the game then what’s the point?

Playing the game is a lot like laying down on a comfy chair and falling half asleep before having to get up to turn off an alarm clock every 20 minutes. The bugs have gotten better over time but it’s just very noticeable, too much so in fact, when it doesn’t work that it’s very hard to recommend this game over similar ones. Disappointing but true.

A fun but unfortunately deeply flawed driving experience.
